UffiziCeiling.jpg The Uffizi has the greatest collection of Italian painting in the world. (Unfortunately, the galleries are rather dark and, since you canšt use a flash, youšll have to take our word for it.) The collection traces Italian painting from medieval through Renaissance and into Baroque, with works by Botticelli (Venus on the Half-Shell ‹ my God, shešs green!), Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and more.

This eight-sided dome of the Tribuna, a room containing the Medici Venus and other sculptures, is decorated with seashells and mother of pearl.
